"The art of tapestry seems, from its origin, to be subject to architecture."
This tapestry museum competition gave us the opportunity to express the nature and purpose of the museum within the architecture.
The museum space was to be filled with ‘woven’ columns, shaped like strands that when combined form a tapestry. The flow of the museums’ interior space gave visitors the opportunity to ‘weave’ through the display areas, giving them the freedom to create and build their own unique experience.
I was involved in the initial design meetings as well as concept design. I attended meetings with the client and organized all potential art pieces to be displayed, and overlaid that information with proposed progression diagrams to discover the most successful journey though the space. I led the diagram and rendering exercises and prepared the final submission for the competition.
