POPULOUS | 2020

$80 million sports complex
20 full-size soccer and baseball fields
3000 seat championship stadium
90,000 sf Recreation Center
The design and layout focused on adjacency and visibility within and around the complex.  Situated adjacent to each other with an articulated roof design, the championship stadium and the fieldhouse provide a central meeting point within the complex, and a central covered spine spanning between the two structures provides the opportunity to utilize and combine program spaces.  The central covered spine also becomes the focal point of the complex, providing a covered, shaded outdoor space for a multitude of potential events.
I was responsible for the initial design of both the championship stadium and the adjacent fieldhouse and acted as the sports architect on the project.  Tasks included meeting often with the owner to create the best product and an exciting complex.

The fieldhouse was subject to grant funding to activate it as a hurricane shelter.  Through this submission process, I was involved in meetings with Collier County Officials, and FEMA to establish the requirements needed to receive this funding and the design modifications necessary to adhere to storm shelter codes.
